In order to drink the nectar from the flowers, the moths use some kind of straw called a proboscis – a special organ adapted to sucking in fluids. The moment they come out of the chrysalid, the moths’ proboscis is made up of two distinct tubes which then unite thus resulting a central canal through which the nectar will flow. Each tube of the proboscis contains muscles and nerves.
