Amoeba(Genus Centropyxis)
downloadIn the video above you can notice an oval testate amoeba. Its test is made of organic cement and presents some spines at the posterior end. The test is either formed by autosecretion, either constructed with external material (mineral particles or diatoms). Sometimes it can be the result of both methods. Sand grains are randomly arranged on the test, except the central part. The amoeba uses its „false feet†(pseudopods - temporary mobile cellular projections) for locomotion and to obtain food. However these pseudopods are difficult to be noticed.
