Amoebae

The amoeba is a microorganism whose body consists of a single cell. Looking like a blob, the amoeba can change shape, move around and feed itself with bacteria, unicellular algae and organic waste by extending its pseudopodia („false feet” - short-lived outward projections of the cytoplasm). Structurally, amoebae closely resemble the cells of higher organisms. For example, when they are moving they look very much like our white blood cells (leukocytes).
